The Federal Bureau of Investigations, FBI has identified the man suspected of shooting at former US President Donald Trump as Thomas Matthew Crooks.
He was 20 years old and from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, they said in a statement.
Trump was shot at during a rally in Pennsylvania, with Secret Service agents swarming the former president after a series of gunshots. He was quickly bundled off stage and into a waiting vehicle and has since returned home to New Jersey.
The FBI say they are treating the incident as an assassination attempt.

Former US President, Donald Trump was addressing a crowd of supporters at Butler, Pennsylvania, USA when someone shot him in the right ear.
The shooting left one person dead and Atleast one other person severely injured.
Secret Service Spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement that the suspected shooter, who officials confirmed is dead, fired multiple sh%ts toward the stage at approximately 6:15 p.m on Saturday.
He also confirmed that the shooter was in an elevated position outside the rally.
Trump reached for his ear as noises erupted a while Attendees at the rally began screaming as agents pushed Trump to the ground.
The former president was removed from the site by Secret Service, with his fist raised.
