Lagos state waste management agency, LAWMA has reiterated its commitment to a cleaner and healthy environment, warning traders and service providers to ensure their markets and outlets comply with required standards.
Managing director of the agency, Muyiwa Gbadegesgin, in a post on social media said monitoring and Compliance Unit inspected the Ketu/Mile 12 axis of Ikorodu Road, recording massive disregard to proper disposal of waste in some outlets.
According to him, the area has witnessed an alarming increase in dumping of waste on the median by illegal street traders, a completely unacceptable situation that not only leads to destruction of public infrastructure, and present danger to public health.
Muyiwa said his team took time to explain proper waste management practice to the traders with approved shops, warning that violators will be removed and prosecuted.
