The Presidency has dismissed a Daily Trust report claiming Nigeria signed a $150 billion Samoa deal with LGBT-related conditions.

Daily Trust, in a report, on Wednesday, titled “LGBT: Nigeria Signs $150 Billion Samoa Deal”, said the deal signed by Minister of Budget and Planning, Atiku Bagudu, has a clause that benefiting countries must allow the LGBT community to exercise their choice.

But Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga argued that the newspaper should have discarded the story after Media Assistant to Bagudu, Bolaji Adebiyi, refuted the allegation.

Adebiyi stated that the Samoa agreement was purely economic, with no LGBT-related clauses.

The Special Adviser criticized Daily Trust for publishing the story despite Adebiyi’s explanation, suggesting the paper was “bent on painting the Tinubu government black.”

He emphasized that the agreement focused solely on economic development and trade, with no mention of LGBT rights or same-sex marriage.
