The Imo State House of Assembly has suspended four lawmakers for an alleged attempt to remove the Speaker, Chike Olemgbe.
The lawmakers suspended include the state lawmaker for Okigwe State Constituency, Chidiebere Ogbunikpa, Ahiazu State Constituency, Sam Otuibe, Ezinihitte Mbaise State Constituency, Henry Agbasonu, and Oru West State Constituency, Dominic Ezrioha.
Their suspension was announced by the Speaker, Chike Olemgbe.
On the reason for the suspension, the Speaker’s spokesperson, Peter Uwa, confirmed that the four lawmakers were suspended for scheming an impeachment plan and inciting members to impeach the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly.
Uwa added that nobody moved the motion for their suspension; it came as an announcement from the Speaker of the State House of Assembly following an earlier executive session.
The Speaker also announced that all standing Committees belonging to the suspended members have been retrieved from them.
