Former Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Alison Madueke has petitioned a Lagos court to declare his marriage to Diezani ended and bar her from using his surname.
He claims their marriage was dissolved in April 2022, but Diezani continues using his name, damaging his reputation amid her ongoing corruption trials.
Madueke seeks an injunction to stop Diezani from using his name and asserting they’re married.
He wants her to revert to her maiden name, Agama, and publicly announce this change.
Diezani, former Minister of Petroleum Resources, faces corruption charges in Nigeria and the UK for allegedly embezzling $2.5 billion during her 2010-2015 tenure.
Madueke argues her continued use of his name poses legal and financial risks to him given these allegations.
