The Lagos State government says it is taking decisive action to address flooding in Lekki and Ajah by constructing a bigger collector along Agungi road to alleviate flooding, particularly following the recent 48-hour rainfall.
Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced this during a visit to Freedom Park Road and Alpha Beach Road with key officials to assess drainage issues.
Announcing the discovery of a major channel blockage at Alpha Beach caused by illegal structures, Wahab emphasized that the state will not tolerate infrastructure being compromised for profit.
He therefore urged residents to report such activities, highlighting the need for community cooperation in enforcing regulations and preventing future flooding.
