The current bus operations in Lagos are chaotic, prompting the need to successfully regulate and integrate the informal transport sector into the state’s Bus Reform Initiative.
This statement was echoed by Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa during a meeting between the Ministry of Transportation, the Lagos Metropolitan Transport Authority, and bus operators regarding the Bus Reform Initiative program.
Under the initiative, Mini buses will be registered and reallocated to inner routes, and an e-ticketing system will be introduced.
He urged transport operators to register with the Ministry within two weeks, noting that violators of the new regulations would be fined and risk losing their vehicles.
