Vice-President Kashim Shettima has refuted claims that President Bola Tinubu is working against Northern Nigeria’s interests.
Speaking when received a Federal Government’s delegation led by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila on a condolence visit over the death of his mother-in-law, Maryam Abubakar, Shettima praised Tinubu’s goodwill towards the region, citing key appointments as evidence of the President’s commitment to the North’s growth.
Shettima highlighted appointments such as the two Ministers of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the Chairman of Police Service Commission, all from the North.
He urged Nigerians to support Tinubu’s efforts to develop the country, emphasizing that the country has moved beyond politics to governance.
He noted that, “PDP, NNPP, APC we are all one family, and Nigeria is greater than all of us. Political party affiliation should not be a yardstick to show disaffection and create means of destruction for the wellbeing of the people.
He reminded that Nigeria’s greatness was a collective responsibility, and that political party affiliations should not be a yardstick for division and destruction.
