Lagos State Government continues the removal of illegal extensions in Markets in Lagos Island to ensure safety, orderliness and opening up of Free Flow of Traffic, the illegal extensions removed before were rebuilt by the defaulters.
A statement from the commissioner for environment and water resources, Tokunb Wahab noted that a combined team of the Special Duties, Physical Planning, Environment, Urban Development, LASTMA, Lagos Fire Service, the police are on duty to carry out the operation.
According to Wahab, the operation is part of the recommendations of the Docemo Fire Incident Committee led by the Commissioner of Special Duties, Gbenga Oyerinde, where it was agreed that it was important to clear all illegal structures in the area.
The commissioner however assured that the state government will continue to put measures in place to ensure the safety of lives and properties.
