A aircraft belonging to XEJET Airlines today skidded off the runway and landed in the grass at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.
This prompted the the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria to shut the 18/Left runway of the airport.
Confirming the development, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau said the Airbus with registration 5N-BZZ with 52 passengers on board departed Abuja and landed in Lagos at 11.29 am.
It’s coming 16 days after Dana Air was shut down by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority for a similar incident.
Meanwhile, Dana Air has sacked some of its employees in an ongoing operational audit by regulatory authorities.
The head of corporate communications for the airline, Kingsley Ezen, disclosed the development in a statement, noting that the audit, which is currently in progress, is a joint effort between the company and regulatory authorities to ensure strict adherence to all required standards and regulations.
