Uchechi the wife of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has revealed that she visited her husband at the facility of the Department of State Services in Abuja.
Kanu disclosed that she visited her husband on April 16, after several denials by the DSS officials and expressed gratitude to the senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, for facilitating the visit.
Kanu has been detained at the DSS detention since his repatriation from Kenya in 2021 after he was rearrested for allegedly jumping bail in 2017 when he fled the country.
Speaking during the live radio programme, Mrs Kanu, who addressed some Igbo people living in the United Kingdom and other parts of the world, said she had severally been denied access to her husband, until last month when she approached Senator Ubah, who swiftly facilitated her visit.
She said she knows that a lot of Igbo elite are genuinely concerned about the unlawful incarceration of her husband, and were working silently to help him regain his freedom.
Ubah also confirmed to journalists on Monday, when contacted, that he facilitated the visit of Mrs Kanu to her husband when he learnt that she was finding it difficult to visit him in detention.
