The Kano Police Command has arrested eight suspects for attempting to disrupt the swearing-in ceremony of four new Commissioners at the Government House in Kano.
The incident, in a statement issued by the Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, occurred during the inauguration presided over by Governor Abba Yusuf in the State Executive Council Chamber.
The statement highlighted that the leader of the eight thugs, who appeared unrepentant and without remorse, led his team to the venue of the ceremony and started acting in a manner that drew the attention of the crime prevention patrol team.
The State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Usaini Gumel, warned all miscreants and their sponsors to stay away from critical government activities, emphasising that any attempt to cause a security breach would be met with severe consequences.
