President Joe Biden has announced a fresh round of economic sanctions on Iran in response to its missile attack on Israel as the White House seeks to defuse a broader military conflict in the Middle East.
The new penalties are aimed at disrupting Iran’s production of drones that were used in the attack, targeting Iran’s steel industry and automotive companies that supply the country’s military.
In a statement Biden said the sanctions target leaders and entities connected to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran’s Defense Ministry, and the Iranian government’s missile and drone program that enabled assault
Meanwhile, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron , who described Iran’s behaviour as unacceptable, said Britian will reel out sanctions on Iran in co-ordination with Washington.
