The Lagos State Government has confirmed the death of one person and injury to eight persons following the fire outbreak at the Dosunmu market in Lagos Island.
This was disclosed by the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye.
She explained that the casualty was refueling a working generator when it ignited the fire while the eight injured persons suffered from carbon monoxide inhalation, and one person sustained a fracture.
The incident resulted in severe damage to at least 14 buildings in the area but the statement noted that the swift intervention of the Fire Service helped contain the blaze, although significant damage was already done.
