The Kebbi state government has distanced itself from the looting that took place in the state and clarified that the food items stolen belong to the Dangote foundation.
Kebbi State, Commissioner of Agriculture, Shehu Muazu accused the Dangote foundation of diverting truckloads of 5kg of rice without informing the security agencies which raised suspicion by members of the public who assumed that it was being diverted.
The state government, however, condemned in strong terms the looting and described the looters as miscreants looking for any opportunity to strike, warning that such will be met with strong consequences.
He added that a 13-man committee has been set up to investigate the cause of the looting and report within five days.
