Finidi George’s positive run as interim coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles has been halted after the team fell to Mali by two goals to nil.
Goals in each half by El Bilal Toure and Kamory Doumbia sealed the win for Mali.
It is the first time the Super Eagles has lost to Mali since 5th September 1975 when they played 4-1.
The Nigerian team may have lost the chance to improve its FIFA rankings with this outcome and would now look towards its 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa in June.
