Governor Babagana Zulum says his administration is gaining success in its combat of out-of-school children challenge, reducing the number in the state from over two million to 800,000.
Describing education as a paramount focus of his administration, Zulum said investment in rebuilding devastated school infrastructure in the state had helped to resettle children in school.
He made the remarks at the inauguration of 27 local government education secretaries and the distribution of 57 school monitoring vehicles.
The governor said the vehicles inaugurated for the local government education authorities are to enhance mobility and effective monitoring, adding that the vehicles must be used strictly for official purposes by authorised drivers.
Although the estimated figures provided by the Governor have not been verified, there is an attestable reduction in attacks on schools by Boko Haram compared to between 2009 and 2017.
