Obi Hails Tinubu’s Decision to Implement Oronsaye Report

Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi hailed the decision of President Bola Tinubu to implement the Stephen Oronsaye report, recommending the merger and abolition of some government parastatals.

Tinubu directed the implementation of the 2012 report which proposed cutting statutory agencies from 263 to 161, abolishing 38parastatals, merging 52 entities and transferring 14 more to ministries.

In a post on X, Obi said being in opposition would not drag him into blind and thoughtless criticism whenever the government takes the right decision.

While asking for caution for in the implementation of the report, Obi admitted that he backed the key components of the report which would ensure cutting cost of governance and increase efficiency.
