Armed policemen have arrested the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure, following allegations of forgery and mismanagement of party funds.
Recall the suspended National Treasurer of the Party, Oluchi Oparah had accused Abure of forging her signature and mismanaging about 3.5 billion naira raised from the sale of forms and donations during the 2023 elections.
The details of Abure’s arrest in Benin City, Edo State, remain sketchy but images and visuals showed Abure seated on the floor before he was taken away in a vehicle by the policemen.
Earlier, VeonewNg had reported that the Ministry of Justice may arraign Julius Abure, on forgery charges next week.
A source who pleaded anonymity however told VeonewsNG that Abure’s possible arraignment was premised on a protracted police investigation into how he substituted the name of the party’s guber flagbearer in Ebonyi, Eze Oko in a fraudulent manner.
