Grammy 2024 was a night laced with spectacular historic moments, bringing together some of the most talented people in the world for a prestigious gong that remains the hall mark of music royalty.
The 66th GRAMMY Awards were already a big night, from the moment the stars stepped on the red carpet with their dazzling outfits, crafted with jaw dropping precision.
But the stars aligned and formed a lit-up convoy for American singer, songwriter, Taylor Alison Swift who scooped the highlights like cream in a tea cup.
Dua Lipa opened the ceremony with an athletic medley of tunes including her contribution to the Barbie album, Dance the Night, which was also up for song of the year.
Rodrigo, Eilish, Burna Boy and Travis Scott were among the other performers, with stars like Beyoncé, Doja Cat and Meryl Streep in the audience.
Swift before her Album Midnights was adjudged the Album of the Year had hit the jackpot, wining the Best Pop Vocal Album, marking her 13th win and of course every Swifties understands the trick and they know like the tip of their fingers that 13 is Swift’s lucky number because of her December 13 birthday.
To further cement the magic number and get the night to the summit, Swift inscribed her name in the sands of time, gloriously stepping forward to receive the album of the year, snatching a whole page in the history books on a historic night.
The superstar who had previously been tied on three best album wins with Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon and Frank Sinatra, became the first performer to win the prize for four times, setting a standard for herself, for the industry and for the girl child.
She received the prize from Celine Dion, who made an unexpected appearance amid health fears.
The heartbreak queen, who had earlier gingered her fans, announced her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, to be released on April 19.
More Dazzling Moments
Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish , R&B stars SZA and Victoria Monét and all-female indie supergroup Boygenius picked up multiple awards, and music icons Tracy Chapman and Joni Mitchell crowned the night with an epic performances.
Killer Mike was the top male winner, taking three rap trophies.
But his success was overshadowed by an apparent altercation backstage, which led to him being “booked for misdemeanor battery”, by L.A Police.

Midnights also won best pop vocal album, but Swift has curiously still never received the prizes for song or record of the year.
Eilish’s contribution to the Barbie film soundtrack, What Was I Made For? beat Swift’s Anti-Hero to the song of the year title this time.
Tracks by SZA, Cyrus and Olivia Rodrigo were also in contention.
Accepting the award with her brother and co-writer Finneas, Eilish told the crowd she felt crazy winning the award among a host of top talents.
SZA led the nominations with nine, and ended up with three prizes.
The tune also won best song written for visual media, while the Barbie album by Mark Ronson picked up the award for best compilation soundtrack for visual media.
Elsewhere, the record of the year award went to Flowers by Cyrus, which also picked up best pop vocal performance.
And South African singer Tyla made history by picking up the first ever award for best African performance.
The 22-year-old, who came fourth in the BBC’s Sound of 2024, won for her viral smash Water, which inspired a TikTok dance craze last summer.
But appearances by two music legends eclipsed the younger stars.
