The Independent National Electoral Commission in Lagos State has taken delivery of sensitive materials for Saturday’s Surulere Federal Constituency I by-election from the Central Bank of Nigeria.
INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Professor Ayobami Salami who confirmed the receipt of the materials told newsmen that the commission was fully prepared for the election.
Salami said that the commission had invited representatives of political parties and security agencies to witness the exercise for openness, noting that the sensitive materials are secure and intact for every stakeholder to see the transparency of the commission.
According to him, the onward distribution of the materials from the state headquarters to the six wards and 258 polling units that make up the Surulere Federal Constituency I would begin tomorrow.
12 candidates of different political parties will be jostling for the seat which became vacant due to the resignation of Femi Gbajabiamila, who was appointed by President Bola Tinubu as his Chief of Staff.
