Zamfara state Governor Dauda Lawal has declared a state of emergency in the health sector with a commitment to revamping the state’s healthcare system.
The Governor made the announcement on Tuesday after an unscheduled visit to Gusau General Hospital, lamenting the disturbing conditions of the hospitals across the state, noting that the health facilities urgently needed intervention.
He however declared a state of emergency, saying the sector is grappling with unprecedented deplorable working conditions which he said is dangerous for healthcare service providers while promising to prioritize their welfare.
Governor Lawal said he will ensure the distribution of necessary equipment and essential medicines to all hospitals across the 14 local government areas, strengthen the emergency response and reposition the human resources for health structure.
