Eighteen out of the twenty-six members of the Ogun state house of assembly have removed Olakunle Oluomo from his role as speaker and elected Oludaisi Elemide in his stead.
The impeachment and election of a new speaker took place at a plenary session presided over by deputy speaker, Bolanle Ajayi.
Giving reasons for Oluomo’s sack, lawmaker representing Obafemi Owode state constituency, Damilola Soneye alleged that the former speaker was involved in financial fraud and exhibited poor leadership.
Soneye also absolved governor Dapo Abiodun of any complicity in the impeachment process.
