Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Governor of Lagos State, dismissing the petition filed by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party and his Peoples Democratic Party counterpart, AbdulAzeez Adediran.
Justice Garba Lawal who read the lead judgment voided Rhodes-Vivour’s challenge to the eligibility of the deputy governor, Obafemi Hamzat to contest the election based on an alleged dual citizenship.
In a unanimous position, the Supreme Court deemed Adediran’s petition a pre-election matter and therefore ought not to have been brought before the Court
