The Super Eagles of Nigeria will head to the African cup of nations in Cote D’Ivoire with a 2-0 defeat on their record after losing to the Syli National of Guinea.
In a friendly match played at the Bani Yas Stadium, Abu Dhabi today, the eagles led by gaffer Jose Peseiro started the game without Victor Osimhen and first-choice goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho and were behind as early as the 14th minute.
Simon Moses got a chance via the penalty spot to level the game for the Super Eagles in the 20th minute but was denied by the Guinea goalkeeper.
In the 64th minute, the Guineans grabbed a second to double their lead.
Peseiro made multiple changes to the team with Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka, Ahmed Musa and Ademola Lookman, however, the changes had no effect as Guinea held on to their lead to take a confidence-boosting win to AFCON.
The Super Eagles are expected to fly in to Lagos tomorrow as they prepare to hit Cote D’Ivoire where the AFCON will be taking place.
