The Chairman of the Inter-party Advisory Council, IPAC, in Lagos State, Hon. Olusegun Mobolaji Jaiyeola has challenged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to take a cue from President Bola Tinubu and ensure inclusion of non members of the ruling All Progressives Congress in governance in Lagos State.
He made the remark in a press release on the occasion of his birthday on Sunday.
Underscoring the need for all round inclusion in governance to wade off the perception that Lagos is a one party state, Jaiyeola said, “I implore Gov. Sanwo-Olu to lead an all-inclusive government, transcending party lines for the betterment of all residents.”
“Democracy thrives when inclusive, and I urge the state government not to limit its support to APC members but to serve all citizens for the collective benefits of democracy,” He added.
He however commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for notable achievements in transportation, education, health, and other sectors.
Applauding Sanwo-Olu’s palliatives amidst the fuel subsidy removal, Jaiyeola emphasized the significance of more efforts as more persons were in dire need of intervention to survive.
“Also recognizing the need for government programs to alleviate the suffering of the masses, collaboration with IPAC is essential. Unfortunately, the advisory role of IPAC in state affairs has been limited. The government must enhance this relationship for a thriving political and democratic system.”
The Lagos IPAC Chairman who is also the Chairman of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, in Lagos however, urged Governor Sanwo-Olu to “reassess the performance of public officers, particularly road managers like LASTMA, Taskforce, VIO and their engagement with the public”.
He explained that IPAC, with its grassroots insights, is ready to partner with the government for a better Lagos.
“That is why the state government needs to work with IPAC because we hear and see more being at the grassroots. We will be fair enough to tell the government the truth which ruling party members cannot tell the government. We want a better Lagos, that is why were are ready to work with the government if only it can extend hand of fellowship and partnership as a stakeholder. We are ready. We are waiting for that good relationship,” the IPAC Chairman said.
Hon. Jaiyeola also commended the Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, who was represented as the State Secretary of IPAC for his support in IPAC events and projects.
