UEFA has reviewed the controversial VAR decision that awarded a late penalty in Newcastle’s game against PSG.
According to the football body, the officials made a wrong call in allowing the penalty, describing it as unfortunate while announcing a minor action on the referee.
Tomasz Kwiatkowski was due to be the VAR in tonight’s Champions League game between Real Sociedad and Salzburg but has now been replaced.
The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) who advised the referee to review the incident has also been stood down by Uefa for his next match, though European football’s governing body has not made a public statement about the decision.
