The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed the killing of an alleged terrorist kingpin, Abu Asad, during a recent military operation.
Asad, who is said to be a key figure in the Ali Ngulde group under the Boko Haram sect, and many of his fighters were reportedly killed during an air operation by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai.
the Air Force, in a statement by its Director of Information and Public Relations, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, stated that the airstrikes from its aircraft also destroyed two out of three structures used by the terrorists.
Gabkwet had said the terrorists numbering over 100 had gathered for either a meeting or planning an attack on troops when the air interdiction was carried out.
