Unlike 2022 year-end rankings where he finished second place, Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, alias Burna Boy, has been ranked No. 1 on the Billboard Year-End U.S. Afrobeats Artists Chart.
The global superstar captured the top spot thanks to a leading 26 entries during the 2023 chart year beginning from Nov 2022 on the weekly U.S. Afrobeat Songs chart.
His single “Last Last,” which topped U.S. Afrobeats Songs for eight weeks in July-August 2022, consistently ranked high even after vacating the summit and remained in the top 10 each week of the chart year, in addition to Six more top 10 hits in 2023.
Meanwhile, Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ remix featuring Selena Gomez topped the chart, Cameroonian diva, Libianca’s ‘People’ and Tems’ ‘Free Mind’ ranked at number 2 and three, while Wizkid’s ‘Essence’ featuring Tems and Justin Bieber clinched the fifth spot.
Ayra Starr, CKay, Asake, Davido and Oxlade complete the top 10 on the released chart.
