There was a mild drama at the Senate today after Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Abba Moro emerged Senate Minority leader after the Senate zoned the Minority leadership to the North Central.
Moro, a two term Senator on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was nominated by the opposition party in the red Chamber and was subsequently affirmed while Enugu West Senator, Osita Ngwu emerged as Minority Whip.
Labour Party Senator from Anambra North, Tony Nwoye, condemned Akpabio’s decision to choose leaders for the senators, stating that it was unfair and unreasonable for the senate president to pick leaders for the house.
Moro takes over from Senator Simon Davou Mwadkwon representing Plateau North Senatorial District who was removed by the Appeal Court because his party failed to validly nominate him.
The newly elected Minority leader was a former Minister of Interior during the former President Goodluck Jonathan administration.
