The Senate has appealed to organised labour to call off its industrial action for the sake of national interest.
The Lawmakers said this today at plenary, charging its leadership to convene an emergency meeting with labour to resolve issues.
Earlier, the lower chamber had echoed a call for the leadership of the National Assembly to intervene in the matter after the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, raised a motion of urgent national importance.
Although the house was divided on the reason behind the strike with some calling on the government to file for contempt against organised Labour for allegedly disobeying the court order against the strike.
Other lawmakers appealed that the House should be neutral in dealing with the matter.
