The Presidency has accused Nigeria labour congress President Joe Ajaero of deceit, misleading his union members and playing partisan politics with his office, faulting Ajaero’s claims of fighting for workers in Imo state.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga reacting to a post on X claiming that Ajaero held a meeting with the Labour Party, governorship candidate in the state, Athan Achuonu stated that such action if verified is a betrayal of the tenets and conduct of the union.
According to Onanuga, Ajaero deceived his union members into fighting his personal course in the name of workers welfare, propagating his political interest with the tools of the union and misrepresenting the facts to Nigerians.
Earlier, the president of trade union of Nigeria, Festus Osifo had stated that the union will not back down until the Presidency takes bold steps to address the situation.
