G7 foreign ministers are set to issue a joint statement on the Israel-Hamas war, calling for temporary pauses in fighting to allow humanitarian aid into the besieged Gaza Strip.
The communique is also likely to reiterate G7 support for Ukraine in its war with Russia, highlight the need for engagement with China over shared concerns, and condemn North Korea’s missile tests and arms transfers to Russia.
U.S secretary of state, Antony Blinken had argued that world leaders must stand together at this point to address the urgent needs of affected persons in war torn areas, to alleviate the suffering of people in every part of the world.
Earlier, UK Secretary of foreign affairs, James Cleverly stated that the actual solution considered by a majority of world leaders is a two-state solution, pleading with Israel to consider the path of dialogue
The issue of humanitarian pauses in the conflict was raised at a working dinner attended by ministers from Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States and the European Union.
