The chief whip of the senate, Ali Ndume, says the subject of presidential yatch has been taken out of context, misinterpreted and blown out of proportion, insisting that the yatch had been budgeted for Nigerian navy before president Tinubu’s administration.

According to him, increase in dollar rate caused a proportional increase in the budget, insisting that lawmakers quizzed the navy for details which he said was provided and critical for security purpose.

The senator also stated that the plea for using locally assembled vehicles is good but not well tailored, stating that vehicle manufacturers in Nigeria are yet to meet the demand reality in the local market, which he said the house would have preferred to use.

Ali Ndume also clears the air on his perceived fall out with the president of the senate, Godswill Akpabio, noting that the alleged incidence was not a personal disagreement but a functional misunderstanding which is appropriate.
