The Rivers State House of Assembly was on Sunday night gutted by fire amid a rumoured plans to impeach Governor Simnalayi Fubara.
VeonewsNG gathered that the explosion which occured at 10pm, took firefighters several hours to extinguish.
As of Monday Morning, the Assembly was heavily guarded by no less than 17 security Trucks and four Armoured Personell Carrier and several security operatives.
The incident comes amid rumours of alleged rift between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor who is Minister for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
It was further gathered that Lawmakers loyal to Wike had concluded plans to impeach the Governor as well as leader of the House, Edison Ehie.
