Lagos state government has addressed issues of approval, document validity and corruption in parastatals raised during the demolition exercise of illegal structures marked by the state environment commission.

In a statement by the commissioner for environment and water resources, Tokunbo Wahab, illegal building demolished by the state government were thoroughly examined and certified illegal before demolition, insisting that affected persons with legal documents and proof of government consent before, during and after construction can approach appropriate offices to seek redress.

According to him, those faulting the government for quick demolition without proper notice to the affected parties were misinformed, noting that every occupant of demolished building was adequately notified of government action but refused to take action.

He however noted that the government will continue to monitor activities of civil servants to fish out bad eggs and snatch the work force from the jaws of corruption.
