Lagos state government has dispelled news of cherry picking and witch-hunting in its recent move to rid the state of unhygienic practices in public spaces, stating that the everyone is equal under the law and the government works for the good of all resident.
Commissioner for Environment and water resources, Tokubo Wahab stated this today during a televised interview, insisting that those peddling news of tribal attack and witch-hunt has an agenda to foment trouble which he said will be resisted and handled appropriately.
According to him, no one is above the law and those seeking to garner sympathy through blackmail will meet a brick wall.
Wahab also stated that the state waste management agency is been revitalized to carry out monitoring and sanction operations in cases where private waste disposal contractors fail to carry out their duties, to effectively tackle piling wastes on road sides and unwholesome places.
The commissioner also appealed to residents to cooperate and collaborate with the state government in its commitment to clean up the state and enforce public health laws in public spaces to efficiently mitigate spread of diseases.
