The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says number of litigations arising from the conduct of the 2023 general elections has in no way reduced or eroded the credibility of the commission.
National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun said this today, saying that reports making the round on the pages of some national dallies insinuating that the electoral umpire has lost integrity is false and misleading.
According to him, it is inappropriate to solely assess the credibility of INEC or the conduct of the 2023 General Election on the number of petitions filed by litigants, which he said was the basic right of aggrieved persons within the confines of the law
He however appealed to the media to engage in positive criticism for upward projection rather than invest in mockery and unproductive analysis.
