Former Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has accused the government of Hyacinth Alia of lying that his administration operated 600 bank accounts.

Recall that the Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Planning, Michael Oglegba told journalists that the previous administration operated 600 bank accounts but availed the present administration only 25 of them, prompting Governor Alia’s decision to freeze the bank accounts.

But reacting via a statement, the Media Aide to the immediate past Governor, Terver Akase described the assertion as the highest degree of falsehood, accusing the present administration of playing politics and persecuting the former Governor unfairly.

He explained that most of the accounts being referred to are belonged to local governments, government ministries, departments and agencies, hospitals, projects, and other programmes while Some of the accounts were already dormant.
