Federal Government Kicks off Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer for 15 million Households

Federal government has promised to execute all programs tailored towards the welfare of citizens and providing succor for the less privileged in the Nigerian society.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume who represented the President

Said this at the launch of the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer for 15 million households, which he said would target vulnerable citizens.

The event which coincided with the World Poverty Eradication Day, according to the ministry of humanitarian affairs will meet the need of 15 million households, which represents 62 million Nigerians.

While speaking during the event, Minister of humanitarian affairs, Betta Edu said that the sum of N25,000 would be transferred to the beneficiaries on a monthly basis for three months, which amounts to N75,000 for each of the beneficiaries.

The minister also disclosed that in no distant time, ‘Iya Loja Funds’ will be lunched to provide soft loans of N50,000 to support petty traders, while farmers would be provided with incentives to boost their farm yields at the beginning of the next farming season.

On his part, finance minister said a biometric auditing system would be put in place to ensure efficiency and accountability in the disbursement of the funds to beneficiaries.
