Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali and Aston Villa’s Nicolo Zaniolo are being investigated for allegedly being involved in illegal betting.
The Italian Football Federation has confirmed that Tonali and Zaniolo, who were called up for Italy for this month’s international break, will both return to their clubs due to the allegations.
The Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office notified investigation documents to the both players and the federation has decided, also to protect them, to allow them to return to their respective clubs.
The pair will miss the Azzurri’s qualifiers against Malta today and England on Tuesday.
