The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has instituted a nine-man ad-hoc committee to investigate alleged sale of government properties in Lagos and other states by the administration of former Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

The Speaker of the House, Ibrahim Abdullahi, said the probe panel headed by Larry Ven Bawa was set up following a motion during plenary on Tuesday.

The committee was mandated to immediately proceed to Lagos to investigate the alleged sale of the Nasarawa State Liaison office in the state.

The Speaker noted that there were media reports that indigenes of Nasarawa State staying in the Lagos Liaison office staged a protest on Monday after they were chased away from the building by security agents.

“But we did not know whether the properties were sold or not and whether the proceeds were used for development or not. And who is/are the beneficiary/beneficiaries of the sale of the properties?”

The Speaker stated that the committee would extend its investigation to the status of Nasarawa State Government properties across the country.
