Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Yush’au Ahmed

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Yush’au Ahmed, says contrary to public assumptions, the Service was working tirelessly to secure the release of all the Corps members who were kidnapped in August on their way to their orientation camp in Sokoto.

Speaking at an interactive session with the House of Representatives Committee on Youth Development in Abuja, Ahmed admitted that three out of the eight prospective corps members abducted in August 2023 on their way to the orientation camp in Sokoto state have been released.

According to him, all relevant security agencies are working in synergy with the traditional and religious leaders to secure the release of the remaining five.

He also cautioned Corps members against travelling at night.

The chairman of the House Committee on Youth Development, Martins Esin who said that the house was worried about the situation of the corps members, explained that the interactive session was to get firsthand information on the situation of the prospective corps members in captivity.
