The Peoples Democratic Party candidate for House of Representatives in Eti-Osa, Lagos State, Bankole Wellington, has expressed satisfaction over the recent judgment by the tribunal regarding his petition.

The National Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal last Monday ruled that the elections were inconclusive and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission conduct a supplementary election within 90 days in all polling units where voting did not take place.

Reacting to the judgement, Wellington described the ruling as justice for thousands of disenfranchised residents of the area, saying the supplementary election is an opportunity for people to exercise their civic right.

Banky W, who was declared the runner-up in the February 2023 election, and the All-Progressives Congress candidate, Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro, had both filed petitions challenging the victory of of Thaddeus Atta from the Labour Party.
