Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has hailed the election petition tribunal’s confirmation of his election victory, describing it as a clear expression of the will of the people.

Lawal polled 377,726 votes to secure a win in the March 2023 governorship election, defeating former governor, Mohammed Matawalle who got 311,976 votes.

Mattawale filed a petition against Lawal’s victory, accusing INEC of subverting his victory at the polls by failing to include the results of some ward areas. However, the tribunal in a judgment, held that the petition was devoid of merit.

The court also awarded the N500,000 fine against the petitioners.

Reacting, Lawal’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, in Gusau said the tribunal’s verdict reflects the resounding choice made by the people.
