The Federal Government has said it would deploy more technology, to assist and ease heavy reliance on human element, in the protection of the country’s vast borders.

Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo disclosed this today during a session with security outfits in charge of border areas and activities, stating his point of duty is to unbundle the bottlenecks in border security.

According to Tunji-ojo, deployment of foot soldiers can no longer guarantee adequate protection of Nigerian borders, insisting that all security apparatus must upgrade and deploy technology to ensure efficiency.

He also charged the service chiefs to go back and strategize on key reforms that must be undertaken in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, that will bring transparency and national interest to the front burner.

Security chiefs present at the event include, commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, Ahmed Abubakar Audi; Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service NCoS, Haliru Nababa; Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Abudulganiyu Jaji and Acting Comptroller General of the NIS, Caroline Wuraola-Adepoju as well as the Director, Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Correctional Services Board, Ja’afaru Ahmed among others.
