Burkina Faso and Mali have deployed war planes to support Niger Republic following the threat of the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS) troops that they were waiting for order to strike.
In a joint statement, the governments of Burkina Faso and Mali said it could not stand by and watch as the disastrous consequences of a military intervention in Niger could destabilise the entire region.
They also warned that any military intervention in Niger will be considered a declaration of war against them.
The move comes days after ECOWAS Defence Chiefs were ordered to activate the region’s force for action to restore civil rule in Niger.
