Opu-Nembe Invasion: Right-of-reply turns show of shame
On Arise TV Morning Show today, a former Regent of Opu-Nembe, Dr. Ikaonaworio Eferebo Igoma, attempted to counter issues raised by chairman of the Opu-Nembe Council of Chiefs, Chief Ezekiel Ikoli, on the same programme yesterday. But his riposte turned out a show of shame.
He spoke out of anger and failed to convince anyone.
Chief Igoma ended up embarrassing himself and his Paymaster while fruitlessly trying to extricate himself and Chief Timipre Sylva from the crisis in the community.
He told a wicked and malicious lie on national television that the 2019 governorship election was peaceful, free and fair in Opu-Nembe and that nobody was chased out of the community in 2019.
The other leg of the lie was that PDP was allowed to campaign in Nembe in 2019. Anyway, Bayelsans know the truth.
It is shameful that Igoma, who claims to be a lecturer, could defend the concocted 83,000 votes for the APC in that election in a riverine area where most of the indigenes were chased away and disenfranchised because of political inclination.
The ‘academic’ kept stuttering and could barely mask his strong bias as a crisis protagonist.
He also cleverly dodged the question on the killing of three youths on February 15 and the arrest of three armed youths with two security personnel in two Hilux vehicles at Otakeme in Ogbia LGA on their way to Opu-Nembe on Saturday night of August 12.
No doubt, the former Regent is one of the problems of Opu-Nembe.
On the show, Igoma chose questions to answer while he parried very salient ones.
It was glaring to the world that he was been clever by half while spewing out “half truths.”
What a disappointing appearance on the show alongside his lawyer, Stanley Damabide.
Another failed venture by the misfiring APC!
