The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas says the high level of corruption within the corridors of power has greatly slowed down the country’s ability to reach its full potential.
Abass said this while speaking at an event held by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission ICPC on Policy Dialogue on Corruption, Social Norms and Behavioural Change in Abuja.
According to the lawmaker, it is difficult task to nip corruption in the bud in Nigeria because factors like weak governance structures, lack of transparency and poverty are prevalent in the system.
He noted that addressing corruption requires not only legal and institutional reforms but also a transformation of social norms and behaviours.
