I know a lot of Chelsea fans are excited about the new Chelsea, the game against Liverpool gave them a lot of hope and you can almost cut through the excitement with a knife but I sense problems.
As a Chelsea fan for many years, I still have palpable doubts as regards every department of the game.I must also confess there are some good sides-I have never seen Chelsea counter attack so well in a while, the counter attack movement brought back memories of Damien Duff and the good old mourinho days but we have a conversion problem.
Most of the attacks fell to nothing as Jackson struggled to convert which posses a big problem if Chelsea is playing against a big team say like Man city.
I am also not comfortable with the idea of pushing our right backs forward to join the attack, Chelsea was lucky that Liverpool was not a high pressing team and was largely reactionary— a team like city would have punished Chelsea.
I must say a big kudos to Gallagher for doing the work in the midfield but if he gets injured? And I didn’t see enough creativity, not many link up play with Jackson,Chelsea must develop alternatives to the flanks and try many link up attacks to Jackson and Jackson must learn to be clinical in his finish. If Jackson had been clinical enough the game should have ended 3-1.
I must confess the defense did well but they haven’t been tested enough, I also saw a many anxious moments when they were tested and I still think we are miles away from the Carvalho days were those clinical tackles brought confidence to the supporters.
